The 1st 100 EGGS
A Film by J.J. Weinberg
On January 20th, 2025, Donald Trump was inaugurated for his second term. Among the many falsehoods floated by Humpty Dumpty and his followers was the idea that he would fix the price of eggs.
So I watched. I waited. I documented.
For 100 days, I visited the same grocery stores in LaPorte, Indiana. I photographed the price of eggs. I collected the data. I treated the absurd deadly seriousness.
Day 1: $4.59
Day 100: $4.49
The average: $4.998
As Orwell wrote:
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grammes a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grammes a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
This project is a photographic performance, a consumer-priced archive of collective delusion. It is visual proof of manipulated narratives and misplaced trust, rendered in shell, shadow, and barcode.
In May 2025, each of the 100 images will be made available for purchase as a digital piece of art on the blockchain, priced exactly at the cost of eggs on the day it was taken.
1 part parody. 1 part prophecy.
100 days. 100 eggs. 100 lies.
